I read mystery novels almost exclusively...James Lee Burke has been head and shoulders above any author I've read for years...his writing is pure poetry for me. Does anyone have his e-mail address? Would like to tell him so....thank you
New book "Heartwood" due out 7/99.
Other D.R. novels not mentioned are: A Stained White Radiance and In the Electric Mist With the
Conferate Dead. I have read the Lost Get Back Boogie as well and another earlier novel that I can't remember the name of. Burke may be may very
favorite mystery author!
In The Electric Mist with the Confederate Dead was a haunting, wonderful book. I have read them all and enjoyed each one. He deserves every prize he gets.

This group discusses the mystery/detective novels by James Lee Burke. Burke
captures the old and new South like no other author ever read by this writer. His
latest, Sunset Limited, features Burke's longtime protagonist, Dave Robicheaux, a
sheriff's detective in a small Southern Louisiana parrish, as he unravels a series of
murders seemingly connected to the lynching of a union organizer some thirty
years earlier. It is certainly one of Burke's best.

I haven't read any of his novels yet, but a friend of mine gave me some of them.
Plan on reading them in the next couple of months. Will let you know what I think.
The friend that gave them to me said they were really great!

I am a true fan of James Lee Burke. I am fascinated by the area which he uses in his
books(Cajun LA). We have been several times to visit the area. It is like no where
else I have ever visited. It seems like you are not in the U.S. In actuality, they
speak French a lot so that makes it more real.
I too have enjoyed JLB for a long time. I had the opportunity to go to a book signing in my area (Pgh. PA) He was promoting his newest HEARTWOOD which is the second with the new character Billy Bob. (1st Cimarron Rose) The man is an incredible story teller in person. He was so interesting and down to earth! And the coolest thing was they were selling ball caps with what else printed on them but none other than ROBICHEAUX'S DOCK & BAIT SHOP New Iberia, LA. Well of course I bought one and he signed it along with a copy of Heartwood!
Dear Burke lovers:
I began with cadillac Jukebox and retreated to the beginning of the Dave Robicheaux Series. I would like to get the books on Audiotape...Other than RecordedBooks are there any other companys which have unabridged Robicheaux???
what about the movie of Dixie City Jam with Tommy lee jones starring and directing??? any updates??
thanks

Love James Lee Burke, read many of his books, especially like Robicheaux. His descriptions and characters are so colorful so are the characters names.
