I recently discovered Dorothy Cannell. I've only read "The Thin Woman" and "The Widows' Club", but I love the stories so far. The food descriptions make my mouth water. Does anyone know the order of the books in the "Ellie Haskell" series? I want to read them in order, but my library does not have all the books and I do not want to skip around.

here is the order: thin woman, widows club, mums the word, femmes fatal, how to murder your mother-in-law,how to murder the man of your dreams. The non series titles are down the garden path, god save the Queen. I beleive there is another Ellie Hakell coming out but I cant remember the name of it

To add to the above-mentioned list: "The Spring Cleaning Murders."

I believe this is the most recent one dated 1998 since it just popped up in one of my library searches--enjoy!

Greetings! I just started reading Ms. Cannell's books. I love them! I started with How to murder your mother-in-law, then went back to the beginning. I am now reading the Widow's Club. I cannot get a picture in my mind of what Ellie would look like, but for some reason Ben keeps popping up in my brain looking like Will from that show Will & Grace. OR maybe Greg from Dharma and Greg. Well, I look forward to continuing in the series.

I've read them all; each very amusing. Mrs. Malloy is one of the my favorite characters in the series. I also love Ellie's snooty cousin Vanessa, but she isn't in them nearly enough. Cannell's newest book is the The Trouble with Harriet, just out in hardback. I can't wait to read it!

Hi all! I'm writing a -for me- very important thing about Dorothy Cannell and am now searching for some pieces of information about her biography. If you know anything, please write to me! Thanks a lot, Cornelia

I enjoy Miss Cannell's Ellie Haskell books. It was so rich that she borrowed Joan Hess's Azaelia Twilight romance novelist in her How To Murder the Man of Your Dreams. I am sure Joan Hess and her and the other wonderful mystery witers enjoy these delightful exhanges as well. How great it is that we live in a time of support and help and co-operation instead of dog-eat-dog mentality.

I may be late discovering Dorothy and Ellie, but owe them both hugely for the redignification of the art and pastime of housecleaning. You've given me (back) something precious. 'Keep 'em coming!

You can check out anytime you like...but you can never leave!

Well, if that be the case, I better start reading because I hate housecleaning!

I have a question about Eudora Spike. What happened to her character? I am not sure if I missed a book in this series but what happened to her character?

Fran Hinkel - 02:29am Aug 14, 2008 PST(#18 of 18)
You can check out anytime you like...but you can never leave!

I could only find one title How to Murder YOur Mother-in-Law featuring Eudora.
