Here is an interesting tidbit about this author.

Heimann was born in Germany. At the age of 15, he escaped from the East prior to the construction of the Berlin Wall. At 18, he saw an ad to attract German immigrants to Australia and decided to emigrate.

To show his gratitude to Australia for providing him with a home, Heimann's detailed illustrations always include a map of Australia hidden in his work.
