This book is set in Seneca Falls,NY, in the early days of the Civil War. Like all of Monfredo's books, this one deals with the history of women's rights, but it also shows what it was like in small communities throughout the country when the tragedies of the Civil War permeated their area. If you read the prologue, you won't put the book down. It is also great how Monfredo shows that gun control was an issue back then, too.

I found the heroin of the Senica Falls series of novels very easy to identify with. She shows great courage and a lot of common sense. The other characters in the book also seem quite real. I don't like a lot of political issues and arguments in the books I read. Even though these issues are present in the series, they are not pushed. I was, and continue to be, very entertained with the characters and plots. I'm looking forward to the next one!
