I've just recently started reading MMR. I've read The Yellow Room, The Bat & The Haunted Lady!! Wow, what a great suprise on all of the mysteries. Any personal favorites that you can recommend as my next selection??

The Miss Pinkerton books were my favorites. I used to have a lot of them, but numerous moves over the years have depleted my library. She used to live in the Pittsburgh area and is fairly well remembered there. The Carnegie Library there would probably have a list of her books.

I've just recently discovered Rinehart. I have purchased several of her wonderful books through E-bay auctions. One was The Circular Staircase - I think that is the book you are thinking of, P. Marlowe. I have also read a very funny light mystery called 'When a Man Marries'. I have her book 'K' coming to me soon. I am buying the old editions, with the wonderful illustrations.

How many Miss Pinkerton books were there? I have only found one so far.

I would like to locate an autographed edition of any Mary Roberts Rinehart book. Anybody have any info?

You can check out anytime you like...but you can never leave!

Hi Mar Ann,

You might try posting your inquiry at Collect/Buy/Sell, which you can find on the left of your screen in the peach area. Good luck!

Mary Roberts Rinehart is one of my favorite mystery authors. I think her books still serve as a model of pacing for contemporary writers in the field.

I'm sorry to see no one's posted here in a while. Oh well, maybe someone will again soon! Meanwhile, I must say I really enjoy Rinehart's books - even more than Christie or any of the new stuff. "The Album" is my hands-down favorite, followed closely by The Yellow Room.

I've always loved MRR's books. Used to have lots of them when I was a teenager and lost the whole lot in a flood some years ago. I'm just now re-reading them: The Circular Staircase, The Man In Lower Ten, the one about Jenny Brice.........so many to go. I'm trying to read them in order of publication, if possible. I've begun rebuilding my MRR collection. I hope people are still reading her stories.
