Yeah, he's great, isn't he? I can't remember ever reading a Hy Conrad story that disappointed me.

Every day, do one thing that scares you.
I agree - and while watching the latest episode of Monk last week, I noticed Mr. Conrad had slyly slipped one of his own books prominently into Monk's hands!

LOL, he did? That is funny. For one reason or another, I have not seen Monk in a long time. I'm going to have to start watching it again - I loved it!
I also thought it was Gina, because of the corkscrew.

Hy is always trickier than that, LOL! I did have to go back and read the story through again - I knew what the clue was, just got muffled up over the timing.

There is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly why the Universe is here, it will instantly vanish and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory stating that this has already occurrred.
Tagged it first time around, but had to re-read the part about the fact that the apartment only had one of everything a second time. Very good.
Well, once again, a mystery that does not have an air tight solution. Since nobody agreed that the gypsy was openning a bottle of wine, she could have been telling a lie. Or, the Cowboy could have been telling a story. Take your pick. The clue was obvious but who did it point to?

If the gypsy was just uncorking the last bottle of wine when the accused arrived, the victim must have spent some time on the balcony. I don't have a problem with the statements - no one disputed the fact that the gypsy was opening the wine when she says she was. Therefore, the victim was still alive at that point. Since the facts show that the victim was alive at that point - then the person (the accused) who said he was the first person to see the victim dead must be lying.
True that nobody disputed the Gypsy's statement but nobody supported it either. Rather important, I think, for a case involving murder.

Well I think that most of these cases would not hold up in a court of law, but what they do is present the most likely suspect. It is up to police to find further evidence to support their suspicions - like fingerprints, blood splatter, etc. We need to pretty much believe what the author tells us unless there is evidence to suspect that someone is lying. Otherwise, we'd never be able to solve any of these cases.
It's nice for us to be able to discuss the case and exchange ideas about it, thanks!
