Actually if Eric was halfway through the alley when hit, a street light wouldn't have properly allowed him to see the attacker. He would only have seen an outline of a person. This is what tipped me off.
I said it was Eric. I'm not really sure what gave it away for me. I guess him saying that the bag was stolen, and then the chief saying that the two mystery guys didn't have anything caught my attention.

I thought it was Petey at first, because he said he was carrying a knife and Eric claimed ge'd been hit, but then I was like, wait, Eric seems suspicious...x

The first clue really was when Eric stated that he had heard footsteps in the alley. However, he also said the assailant wore sneakers. Sneakers have rubber soles and therefore don't really make a sound on a concrete surface thereby making his story somewhat implausible.
got this right.... my theory was right.... cause eric was really suspicious at first..
The streetlamp. When they said alley, I picture a tiny, dark pathway between two buildings. I figured there wouldn't be a street lamp. XD
I liked the one about the sneakers and the rubber soles though - nice work Jazzy J!
Guessed right but for the wrong reason -- heard footsteps with sneakers?!
hi every1, whts up?
and yea, nice job Jazzy J, i would never have thought of tht
It was obviously Arnie.
I at first thought it was Eric, but I didn't know what a cardigan was, so I looked it up. So I thought, it has to be Eric, but then I realized, if I didn't know what a cardigan sweater was, maybe he didn't either and just called it that. So how did I conclude Arnie? He told the police he wasn't even wearing the sweater until about 5 mins before. Now police don't discuss to the suspects what the witness saw, so how would he have known the police were looking for someone in a sweater like his, unless he was paranoid about it, because he had it on when he comitted the crime. Clearly guilty.
