Hi there - Does anyone have any info on McBain's to be final book "Exit". I have heard it will be released after his death (if only he was immortal) but would like to know if it reveals the identity of the ever elusive Deaf Man?

Kathy Wilson - 04:38am Oct 27, 1999 PST(#66 of 107)

Sarah, if that's the plot, sounds like the Deaf Man is making a return faster than he normally does. But, wasn't the police commissioner killed in another Deaf Man book? The mayor was, i know. I certainly hope "Exit" won't be last 87th. I'm going to certainly miss the Matthew Hope's coming out after the last one was published. I've read and re-read them all, own most of them - Hope & 87th...probably my very favorite author.

Clare Briggs c/o England - 05:13pm Oct 30, 1999 PST(#67 of 107)

Kathy I think you miss understand. "Exit" is to be released ON McBain's death so of course it will be his last book, unless he is planning to write from beyond the grave!!! Pardon me for my sarcasm.

Hi

I am aware that there is a loose chronology to the 87th precinct stories (people die, get married, etc). Is the story chronology the same as the publishing chronology or are there prequels?

Thank you

Hey, All of you mystery lovers out there. I love Ed McBain. When I started reading the 87th Precinct stories, that was it! I was hooked. I haven't had a chance to sit and relax, and enjoy a good Ed McBain, well to me all of them are fantastic. I have one more author I feel the same about. I know I would probably get turned on to another au- thor, but as I said, I really haven't had a chance to just enjoy a good book period. Due to my health. God has been good. I'm feeling much better now. For how long, I don't know. I do know that if there is any- one has a list of all Ed McBain's books. I mean the 87th precincts books, too. I would like to know his most recent book that has been released, so I can start on it. I plan to start a collection. Maybe I'll get into another author and I can start collecting his/her work. I'm fascinated by mysteries. Maybe it's the unknowing. When I'm reading a book and it feels that I'm there, I know the book is very good. A good author will keep his reader's in suspense, and captive. And only until he sets them free from this captive state; they don't have to worry ab- out losing any readers. I really hope some- one can help me by sending me Ed McBain's accomplishments. Thank You.

I have read a lot of McBain's books and like him a lot but what I am wondering is if anybody remembers the television series that came out about 30 or 35 years ago on the 87th precinct. Can't remember the exact date but would appreciate knowing if anybody else remembers this. Thanks.Barbara

Hi to al Ed McBain fans from the UK. Two of us in my office love McBain and Evan Hunter novels - he's read them all, I've just read eight, so I've a way to go! A complete bibliography of McBain novels in simply found by searching under author's name on the web - I think the 87th Precinct titles are up to 50 now. All good wishes, Alan Candy, Hertfordshire, England. e-mail me at candy.1@ntlworld.com
