no one knows that a french movie was adapted in1963from "killer' s wedge as " la soupe aux poulets " ie "chicken soup "
Can you tell me what the snow on the beach in Florida represents in the book The Last Best Hope by Ed McBain. My daughter is doing a paper and needs the symbolization.
Robert Lansing was Carella and Norman Fell played Meyer Meyer-both excellent,in the '63 series.
I didn't find a youngster that could portray my heroes as well as those two.
And M.Hope was played by Brian Dennehy, although I always thought a young James Garner fitted Matthew better.
Still have trouble portray the women...
But-as always-the novels are much and much better.
I read and reread any books that I have by Ed McBain. His characters are great and the stories are terrific. I feel as if I know all of the characters. I am waiting for his next book and then I want to start looking for his old books. Ed McBain is my very favorite mystery writer. I can't say which book is my favorite; they all are.

I have been hooked on the 87th series for a year or two now. I never tire of Carella, Willis, Paker and all the other superb characters. They exude wit and charm, and I often laugh out loud when reading their squad room chats. I am currently reading 'Vespers' and as always, I'm hanging on every word! Who loves ya Ed?.....I DO!!!
Ed McBain books are funny, smart, and
intriguing. I am very critical of books in
general, but I love his!
BTW, the website www.edmcbain.com
hasn't been loading recently, anyone
know why? I love visiting it.
I am now reading Cop Hater, after
having exhausted the public library's
collection of 87th and Matt Hope books.
I think ed McBain is a very good author. i loven his work. I love him! I read hos books and I like the mystery that's in it. But I'm going to read further.

You can check out anytime you like...but you can never leave!
Just released: The Frumious Bandersnatch, the fifty-third installment of the gritty, taut series that provided the blueprint for the police procedural genre and arguably inspired such legendary TV shows as Hill Street Blues, NYPD Blue and Homicide.
In which books of Ed Mcbain does the cop named Fat Ollie appear???

Procrastination is a virus
Gotta love Ed McBain Short Stories in Mystery mags (I can't remember which - AH or EQ - I get them both). Getting each magazine in the mail is like receiving a present without the bother of dressing up for a party.
I noticed in one of the Mathew Hope novels, that the town of Winfield, Alabama was repeatedly mentioned as being the hometown of the woman in the book. I'm just wondering if McBain as ever been to this town. I live there and he describes it perfectly as a small town where everyone knows everyone elses business. I'd love to know how he came to pick this town.
