'And I have the sense to recognize that I don't know how to let you go.'

Just because....

To talk to others about nothing at all, and so we don't take up the teasers time and space. As some of you know, I enjoy talking about nothing and annoying people. If you also like to do that, this is just the place. Anything goes here, but remember, it's all in good fun and not meant to hurt others.

Diana - you need a boyfriend who is a mechanic. He'll fix the car for the cost of parts and never tell you more needs fixing than really does.

diana, try autozone or some other buy it yourself shop for the bulbs, you can probably get them for less, and many times the people that work there are helpful and will at least tell you how to fix it yourself. Bulbs are one of the easiest things to fix on a car.

Kirsten - you know how to change the bulbs on your car yourself? I'm impressed (and a little jealous)!

Yep, I can change lightbulbs, check the oil (and add more), fix brakes, all sorts of stuff, I just choose not to do most of it.

Oh, I can check the oil myself, too (and add more as necessary). I could probably change the oil myself, too, if I tried. Right now I need help with a turn signal that keeps going out. I think the socket is bad b/c it keeps going out.

Take the bulb out and see if there is any corrosion, then check the wires to see if any are loose. Most bulbs can be accessed by undoing a few screws.

I'll have to try that when it's light out. I hate when turn signals go out; it makes that annoying rapid blinky sound when you turn it on.

yeah, I know what you mean. and like i said, if you take it to autozone or somewhere they will usually help you for free. Especially if you are a woman. They think we dont have a clue. ;o)

LOL!!! No, my bf will fix it for me. He is an actual mechanic and has to replace my exhaust system soon, so I can stop choking on exhaust fumes at red lights.

I think animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

Boyfriends actually work on your car without any gripping? Geesh, do I choose the wrong ones or what! **g**

Actually I'm a farm girl and my dad always said, if you drive it, you have to know how to fix it. I remember here at work talking with a male coworker and giving him mechanical advice. I also told him to walk into a shop with big attitude, tell them that they have to show you exactly what needs repair and why. And if they refuse or attempt to throw you out, demand the keys and leave.

He burst out laughing. Said he felt intimidated because as a man, the "norm" is that he knows all about cars, so usually he gets rooked - as he won't question for fear of looking like a sissy.

He went in the next time with my attitude and wow, he was surprised how fast that estimate dropped!

Anyhow, diana, sounds like people have it all covered for you with the advice, so good luck. :)

Always good to have a boyfriend that is handy. I havent always had one (I am better with most of that stuff than hubby), so I have learned to do a lot of it myself.
