Perry Mason
Susan Christoffersen - 12:34pm Jul 14, 1997 PSTMy all-time favorite! When my children were babies and I was home for a few months, I used to feed them in front of the TV because one of the local stations was rerunning the old Perry Mason series every day at noon. Nothing like the atmosphere the series created, IMHO. I would still watch them if I could find them on TV.
The Watcher note: Perry Mason fans can read more about Perry Mason and his creator, Erle Stanley Gardner in Mystery Net Timeline.

does anyone know the name of the episode listing which read,"Mason takes a divorce case and nearly loses his life"? I caught
the last part of that episode with Mason in
a hospital bed, the gang is around him, and Paul Drake telling him the doctor says
he can go home in a couple of days". This
has been driving me crazy.
also I think the Perry Mason website could
do with a complete episode guide like law and order, and walker, texas ranger, have, but that's just my humble opinion.
I know that no one has been here in a while, bt is this talking about the same Perry Mason that Ozzy Osbourne sings about?
I have all the Perry Mason novels, paperback, some first edition. Right now I really want to sell them since I feel that if I may die, at age 61, the books will be throw out with garbage.
Does anyone know how many Perry Mason books were written by Erle Stanly Gardner

You can check out anytime you like...but you can never leave!
There are 82 Mason novels by Gardner.
Hi. Has anyone ever figured out what was in the folder that the judge hands to Perry Mason in the opening credits? Perry goes on to give the folder to Della, Paul, Hamilton and Tragg. They all take their time reading it although it only has two words on the cover. We joke that it may be the menu for the meal that Raymond Burr is preparing for the cast that evening. Thanks.
Hello Susan & Maureen: I'm new to the Mystery Net community. While I certainly enjoy reruns of the classic series, I believe I get as much pleasure from the Gardner novels. Btw, does anyone remember the 1973-74 revival with Monte Markham, Sharon Acker, Harry Guardino, and Dane Clark? I thought that was quite good. Looking forward to future discussions. Best always, Chris.
In fact Mason lost another case during the first season, but it was just a throwaway capital case. In "The Case of the Desperate Daughter" Perry and Della spend a few moments preparing an appeal for "Mr. Hudson", who has a date with the gas chamber on Friday. There's no followup, so apparently Mr. Hudson didn't rate a full episode; he was one of those pesky guilty people.
Perry Mason is one of the greatest TV shows in the history of television, and there could not have been any better choice than Raymond Burr to play the part.

Perry Mason in books, radio and television from 1933, through the 1940's and between 1957-1967, respectively, has just about got to be "the" Perry Mason referenced in the Ozzy Osbourne music asked about earlier in this thread. I've never listened to his music, so I cannot be certain.
Over the last many years I have only seen Perry Mason reruns in late-night TV if I happened to stumble across it, but now with modern digital TV I get a channel over the air, off my antenna, that carries all these oldies-but-goodies round the clock!

If growing up is the process of creating ideas and dreams about what life should be, then maturity is letting go again.
I am on maternity leave this summer and only recently
saw my first Perry Mason episode, and now I am
hooked!
I know that in order to fit the episode into the time-
slot, Hallmark Channel cuts roughly 5-6 minutes from
each episode, as modern TV has more commercials
than in the 50's and 60's. Can anyone familiar with the
edited and non-edited versions tell me what is typically
cut from each episode?
Also, I have never read one of the books. How would
you rate the books versus the TV show?
