About Jomarie Grinkiewicz

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, April moved to South Florida when she was four-years-old. Shortly after her marriage, she quit her job as a teacher of emotionally disturbed children to travel with her husband, Jerry, whose work in the construction trade took them across America's highways and as far North as Alaska and Canada. Her novel, The Dolphin Triangle, a suspense thriller was inspired through the tragic Adam Walsh story and won The 1999 Florida State Best First Unpublished Novel contest and has also received rave reviews.

Award winning author April Star took an unusual route to her writing career. Traveling the roads of America for 16 years with her husband, Jerry, she began to write on the road as a means of expressing all her adventures and experiences. Jerry’s work in the construction trade brought them to every “where-in-the-hell-is” place on the map. April filled her days writing journals about people, places, and oh…the countless “things” that happen on the road and in campgrounds. Many campers through the years would ask her over and over why she didn’t write a book. She did. A non-fiction account of all the journals titled, LIFE THROUGH A REAR VIEW MIRROR. It was distributed to family and friends only. Shortly after writing that very large volume, April discovered her real niche was in the mystery genre.

In 1992, shortly after hurricane Andrew devastated the Homestead, Florida area, April and her husband rolled their 32 ft. Avion travel trailer into a camping resort (which, at the time, appeared to be more of a MASH unit). In an attempt to keep her sanity, April took a job in the office where she soon discovered INSANITY bred! A year later she became assistant manager and marketing director and in 1996 Jerry joined her in the office with an offer of being campground managers. There they stayed and there is where the REAL stories and characters emerged for what is now a reality—the Wanderlust Mystery Series.

David and Laura, April’s amateur sleuths, travel America’s highways in their motor home finding mystery, murder and mayhem at every camping resort they roll into. The Wanderlust Mysteries are taken from both views of the full-time RV’er—the ever increasing world of the RV wander-luster as well as the villains—otherwise known as “THE Managers.”

She is an active member of Mystery Writers of America, Romance Writers of America, Sisters In Crime, The International Thriller Writers, The Authors Guild and American College of Forensic Examiners International.

TROPICAL WARNINGS is where your journey begins.
