Here is something new under the tropical sun, a Hawaiian regional mystery of the Tony Hillerman type which serves to explore the unique Hawaiian culture.

Sara Williams channels her inner Raymond Chandler with One Big Itch, an addictively readable tale set in Hawaii and featuring detective John Spyer. It abounds with local color and Hawaiian lore, and the story moves along at a fast clip as it builds toward the cliffhanger climax. You won’t see the end coming .

~~Eileen Goudge New York Times best-selling author of THE DIARY

Spyer is an appealing mixture of John D. MacDonald’s Travis Magee and Mickey Spillane’s Mike Hammer, with an exotic locale thrown in for spice. Williams has caught the rhythm and feel of the Hawaiian life and lifestyle. Her characters are real, three-dimensional, interesting people, whose actions grow naturally out of their characters, not some arcane plot demands. And the plot of One Big Itch is a gem, with layer upon layer unfolding as Spyer investigates the murder of a childhood friend.

Its so nice to find a fictional mystery set in historical context. The book will hook you in with the 'inside' view of life and the sweet smell of the tropics and then carry you along like a long riding wave. Loved it. I have to add in that the Don Juan Con is another great book that all women over 35 should read! Pick up a copy of 'One Big Itch' its the perfect 'beach book' for the summer.

Hawaiian-born sleuth John Spyer is at it again! In One Big Itch, the latest scandal-riddled puzzler from Sara Williams, the affable, but cunning Spyer combs the island of Oahu, this time in search of the answer to a mystery so baflling, treacherous and danger-filled, even he can't believe the outcome. Keeping up with Spyer's exploits is a true delight. In One Big Itch, Williams captures the down-to-earth feel of daily life in the Islands and melds it with the deepest, darkest undercurrents of exotic Polynesian culture to create a thrilling yarn that doubles as a vacation in Honolulu. Don't miss One Big Itch!
