I would like to suggest that anyone looking for very short mystery fiction check out the 1000 word mysteries published each week in Womans' World magazine. These are quick little stories, mostof them with a humorous or light touch and a little twist.
This can also be a good market for you short story writers - let me know if you want me to email you their guidelines. They publish 52 per year!
Best regards,
Kate Thornton

Since this is about Mysery magazines I think it's the right place to put a query. During one of my recent raids on britain's second-hand bookshops, I found a copy of 'Edgar Wallace Mystery Magazine'. Can anyone give me any information at all about ythis now defunct publication?

I thought I read that MHCMM would not have
a issue to release until September, but
this weekend I found a summer issue. It
looks like it has lots of good stories and
another contest. Does anyone know when the
story that won the contest entry deadline
November 1997 will be published in MHCMM?
If it is the summer issue I guess I didn't
win. Anyway the winner had a unique story.

Does anyone out there know what happened the The Armchair Detective? I resubscribed last fall and haven't received a copy. Was expensive subscription so would like to get my money back. No web page anymore either. Thanks.
Hello, I am new to this Mystery stuff on the Internet, but I have always been a big fan of Mystery. So somebody, especially you Gail Cox(Hi), send me some stories.
Does anyone know when the next MHCMM will be printed?
I, too, would like to know when the next MHCMM will be published. At one point, they were taking subscriptions. When I signed up I got a card from the Family Circle (parent magazine) thanking me for my interest and when the subscription is available, they would advise me. This was back in 1998.
I had never heard of the Armchair Detective Magazine and now feel I might have missed a great mag. Any info on that would be appreciated!

Mary Higgins Clark Mystery Magazine is currently published once a year by Family Circle. It was originally a one-shot deal, but was so popular they have kept it up. It did come out twice in 1998, I believe, but the next issue should be out the end of June or beginning of July 2000.
I'm interested in starting a writer's group for short stories -- NOT e-MAIL -- I repeat NOT e-mail. This would be a LIVE group in the New York City area so we can all actually meet and critique each other's mysteries. I think to begin with short fiction is the best -- short stories. We can also discuss markets. It would be a support group. If interested and if you live in or near NYC, e-mail me and we'll set up a place and time to hold the meetings. Perhaps twice a month would be good.

You can check out anytime you like...but you can never leave!
Sounds like a great idea, Donna, good luck. You might want to also post this in Writing Mysteries if you haven't done so already.
Hate to tell you guys this. I just got a card from MHCMM and it said that they were no longer going to print it. Really saddened me. I wish they had printed them more often. Seems that I would wait a whole year just to run and buy one. I know it wasn't a year, but it felt like it. I too had to tried to win one of their contests and had high hopes for the future. Sorry to ruin your days....going into withdrawal over it, myself...Jan
