This is a terrific police procedural. FBI criminologist, Patrick Bowers is on the track of a gruesome serial killer. As the crimes continue, a pattern emerges that seems linked to an ancient manuscript. The race is on to catch the criminal before the next horrifying murder takes place. Bowers finds himself matching wits with one of the most brilliant adversaries he's ever encountered. But, is Bowers the predator or the prey?

There is also an interesting secondary story going on at the same time involving Bowers' stepdaughter, Tessa, which I hope continues in his next book, The Bishop.

The conclusion is not just an edge of your seat climax, but a surprising one as well.

This was extremely well written and researched and I highly recommend it.
