Was just reading up on ripper cases, didn't realize there were possibly eleven victims. Kind of puts a new spin on things.

This is a very interesting article about the latest forensic techniques and names the killer:

If growing up is the process of creating ideas and dreams about what life should be, then maturity is letting go again.

That was an interesting piece Fran. A mortuary assistant is indeed creepy enough for crimes of this nature.

I just caught the end of a discovery channel documentary Jack the Ripper in America over the weekend. The show was arguing that James Kelly was Jack the Ripper. It traced his passgage to America shortly after the killings stopped in London and similiar killings started in new york. It also presented similiar murdersin New Jersey, Texas, and LA and showed James Kelly was in those places at the time of the murder. To top it off, they had a photo of James Kelly and after doing photo regression, it looked very much like the police sketch.

To me, all these theories sound plausible while you are hearing the arguement, but they are all as unprovable as the other. But then again its the fact that this case is unsolved that makes people still discuss it today.

Yes, that and the gruesome aspect of it. I saw that show too Lasso, a while ago. I think Patricia Cornwell wrote a book on this, claiming to solve the case, but I haven't read it.

Yes, I believe she wrote that the artist Stickler was involved. However, it has been proven he was in Paris for some of the crimes that took place in Whitechapel.

Wow, think she would have researched better!

Actually Cornwell presented a very believable case against him and explained how that alibi of the Paris trip still left him time to commit the murder .. I enjoyed the book and I can see it ...

Of course as with any famous case as this ... until you have the killer confessing with exact details or a video of them doing it there are always different suspects that one can make fit ...

I suggest the book Fran ... even if you don't agree, it is a fascinating read ... some very bizarre evidence is presented.
