I have recently gone to Washington D.C. and while there I saw a hillarious murder mystery play. It was taken place in a beauty shop hencing the name Shear Madness. With many puns and add libs it was a very understandable and good mystery. At the end the audience takes a vote to see who they think is the killer. The characters will make the play end with the killer being the person of whom got the most votes for most likely being the killer. This way you don't go home dissapointed. Please write any information about this play.
I have never heard of this play but from the sound of it I think it is a wonderful idea and would probably be a lot of work for the actors. ( by the way is this discussion new?)
I have seen a most hilarious version of this play. In calgary, at the Pleiades Mystery theatre, this play was supposed to run from may-june, but has been held-over and is still going. this has been one of the funniest and ingenious plays that i have seen and i highly recomend it. i think its playing currently at the raddisson hotel, for any interested calgarians.
Oh! and the writer of this disscusion mentioned info: Okay, this is all i know- Shear Madness is THE longest running non musical play in north america. Created by the late Paul Portner, Shear Madness, a serious play at the time, was left unfinished. It was taken into the hands of 2 budding playwrights, the original 'Tony Whitcomb' and 'Barbara Demarco.' It played in Chicago for (i think) 18 years.
Wow! Sounds cool. I'm going to DC in a few months, hopefully it is still being performed.
