A Crossword Lover's Delight

Here's a challenge for all the crossword lover's out there. Give a definition and tell the number of letters in each word of the solution - you don't have to tell what letter the word starts with - make others work for it! Both British/cryptic and American/straight clues are welcomed.
Players are strongly encouraged to provide the reasoning behind their guesses and evil hosts may choose to require this before confirming a correct guess. The first player to complete the solution to the host's satisfaction wins the next turn.
