#001 Isle Of Creed

WHITE TORNADO (8@D)======> - 05:26pm Oct 28, 1999 PST
BRB.....counting # of days til next millenium.

The Isle of Creed is a homely place,
Set in a land where hearts embrace,
But alas it's true,
Not all is sky blue,
A man lies dead there are clues to trace.

So the killer had come by horse,
That's why those piles along the course,
I dare not retrace,
I might fall on my face,
Must follow clues via another source.

So a bloodhound Mike did obtain,
And to the piles did train.
Though they were rank,
Mike hit the jackpot bank,
And found the owner of the horse, Mr. Baine.

Mr Baine he was very cool
On his finger he wore a huge jewel
To buy a race-horse takes big dollars of course
but Mike finds him face down in his pool

How did Baine wind up so?
Our detective Mike has to know;
A clue over which to fret:
Mr. Baine never got wet.

So Mike went to the attorney, named Bill
To check out who's on Baine's will.
Mike hit the mark!
One name on paper did spark
The detective and made his heart thrill.

Twas a razor kind of thrill,
For the name the paper did reveal
Was that of Mike's spouse,
Mrs. Billi Jo House,
Now he wonders if she could kill?

Mike went to see Mrs. House
Who was ironing a nice silk blouse.
Mike thought "I don't know,
if to murder she would go?
She's less than a lion and more like the mouse!"

The gleam in her eye did tell,
She loved him & all is well.
Can't bother with this,
Plant a passionate kiss,
And massage the bruise whence she fell.

Alas, though, Mike did not see
The gun aimed right at his knee
As he lifted her to her feet,
She sent him on his seat
And said "My dear, all this time, it was me!"

She went to prison my friend,
On death row did they send.
The Gov she did know,
A pardon he did bestow,
Perhaps this is not the end.......

FOOTNOTE:
Thanks to all who participated in this first limystery.

You will note some deviations to instructions. This is because this first limystery was performed in the regular LIMERICKS/PASSIONATE POEMS... folder and therefore, some participants may not have understood limerick structure. I chose not to admonish, but rather enjoy the poetic participation.

In future limysteries, one should follow the 5-line outline as a general rule. An occasional deviation in length of each line is quite acceptable.
