This Post & Solve is all about quotes. There are 2 versions of puzzles that will be acceptable.

Version 1 - Basic. A quote (which may be from a book, speech, movie, song, etc.) is given. To solve, a player must identify the author/singer/character/etc. who gave the quote. At the Host's discretion, players may also be asked for the movie/book/song/etc. that the quote came from.

Version 2 - Missing Word: As version 1, but this time with 1 or 2 words missing. To solve, a player must identify both the missing words and the author. At the Host's discretion, players may also be asked for the movie/book/song/etc. that the quote came from.
Example: "Once you ____ the impossible, the rest, however improbable, must be the truth.".
Solution: 'eliminate' - Sherlock Holmes.

Hosts should indicate at the start of the puzzle what is needed to solve the puzzle to their satisfaction. The first player to complete the solution wins the next turn.

All the usual P&S guidelines apply. These Tips and Resources can help you to create a new puzzle. If you have questions regarding hosting and posting, check out the FAQ. Have fun!

Was it someone during Wilde's time or more modern? This person would have been around 9 or 10 when Wilde died.

Rik Shepherd -

H.G. Wells? Rudyard Kipling? Saki? No to these.

Me? Guessing at random? What makes you think that? Considering that I said that the author of this quote wasn't British...
