Pyramids, Triangles and Egg-timers

Created by Stevie B

The idea in this puzzle is for the host to post a series of clues, where each answer is an anagram of the previous word, with either one fewer or one extra letter each time. Each word must be a legitimate word. Clues can be of any sort (general knowledge, straight, cryptic, etc). Depending on how you structure the clues, there are three shapes the answers will form.

Type 1: Pyramid or Triangle
Add a letter each time, and you get a Pyramid shape.
Turn it upside down for a Triangle
ART
STAR
TRAMS
MASTER

Type 2: Egg Timer
A combination of a Triangle and Pyramid puzzle
RATE
TEA
AT
A
AS
SAT
SATE

Type 3: Diamond
The "other" combination of Triangle and Pyramid
IT
TIE
BITE
TRIBE
BRIE
IRE
RE

For Pyramids, the maximum number of clues is 10.
For Egg Timers and Diamonds, the maximum number of clues is 15.

The smallest word in any type could be 1 letter, but if you can only get it down to 3 letters, that is acceptable.
The host posts the puzzle type and a list of clues (in order!), but does not need to post the number of letters in the word (unless the answer to a particular clue is either more than one word or hyphenated). Hosts, please number your clues. Players, please indicate what clue you’re guessing at. The first player to complete the solution wins the next turn.

All the usual P&S guidelines apply. These Tips and Resources can help you to create a new puzzle. If you have questions regarding hosting and posting, check out the FAQ. Have fun!

If growing up is the process of creating ideas and dreams about what life should be, then maturity is letting go again.

I think DeeGee meant 5, not 3, is pier?
