“The Mozart Conspiracy”

WOW! What a fantastic book! I have been trying to find the right word to describe this novel … my first thought was “relentless” thriller! But then my mind was flooded with “un- words” such as un-relenting, un-ceasing, un-remitting, un-compromising, un-yielding and lastly UN-BELIEVABLE!!
I had never heard of the book or the author so I had no predetermined thoughts as I began to read the first page, but within minutes I was “hooked”! Any book that starts out with this paragraph is guaranteed to grab the reader’s attention and what you are hoping for is that the author follows through with all the excitement and thrills that he is promising … Mariani’s first paragraph reads:
Breathless with shock and terror, Oliver Llewellyn stumbled away from the scene he had just witnessed. He paused to lean against a bare stone wall. Nausea washed over him. … But what he’d seen … what they had done to that man in that strange vaulted room … was more horrible than anything he could have imagined.
After a beginning like that I thought to myself … “Okay Scott, I have never heard of you before and you are promising me a lot here ssoooo show me what you got!!” and let me tell you, HE DID!! Mariani delivers a masterpiece of suspense, adventure, and thrills by writing so very crisply, clearly and intensely that it is destined to be at the top on all Bestseller Lists! If there is anyone in Hollywood with a finger on the pulse of what the public wants then I have no doubt at all that this book, “The Mozart Conspiracy”, will be the next Blockbuster Movie! (And if I am a good girl and say my prayers at night he will make this a series!)
This sure fire hit rivals the Bond and Bourne characters, and it is brimming over with exotic settings and brilliant plot lines that gives it all the excitement, intrigue and suspense of the Dan Brown based books and movies! All in all this novel, in my opinion, is the best combination of all of them rolled together into one amazing thriller!
Mariani writes so vividly of all the countries as our heroes and villains pursue each other while they take the reader on a heart-stopping chase all through Austria, Turkey, France, Ireland, Switzerland, England, and Italy! This mesmerizing tale begins when Oliver Llewellyn, a world famous concert pianist, who is writing a book on the truth about Mozart’s death, sneaks away from the crowd at an exclusive estate in search of evidence concerning a newly discovered letter by Mozart. Instead he stumbles onto a horrific scene of a ritualistic murder by a fanatical group of hooded men who are members of an ancient secret society. Hidden away behind stone columns, he films the scene but when he is discovered, this heart-pounding, tension-filled chase begins and it never lets up!
When Oliver’s body is found, his sister Leigh, a world famous Opera star, wants answers. Tbhis causes her to contact Ben Hope, her brother’s best friend, her first love and a highly trained ex-British officer, who specializes in international kidnappings and murders. Unknown to either of them is the fact that Oliver had rushed home, copied and mailed to his sister a disc of this filmed execution ritual just minutes before his own death. Ben Hope comes to her aid only to discover that a terrible secret kept by her father, who had come into possesion of a letter by Mozart that threatens to expose the truth behind Mozart’s death and, in doing so, will reveal this secret society … a demented group of very powerful men who will stop at nothing to destroy anybody, anyplace, anywhere they deem necessary to keep their centuries old secrets!
Mariani does an amazing job of keeping you on the edge of your seat and he shows no mercy as he propels the characters at a breakneck pace through one narrow escape after another. He brilliantly throws in surprises with twists and turns to keep you guessing until the very end. He has mastered the art of “chapter ending hooks” and makes it so difficult to find that illusive “good stopping place” that we all count on. But if you’re like me, you lovingly surrender to that “tease” and read the next chapter … then the next …
I could not recommend this book more highly for either gender and any age. Get or give this book for that “perfect” Summer Vacation novel we all lovingly look forward to! This exciting thriller will not disappoint!!
About the Author Scott Mariani
Mariani grew up in Scotland, studied at Oxford and has worked as a professional musician, a translator, pistol instructor, and journalist and thankfully for our sake he now is a full time writer! I smiled when I read that Mariani lives with his family in an 1830’s country home in Wales complete with its own woodland AND secret passage!!
